Sixteen years ago, Iglu started with an idea that was still unusual at the time: that good work did not always need to be tied to one office or one country. A lot has changed since then, both for Iglu and for the way people work.
Reaching 16 years gives us a reason to look back, but more importantly, it gives us a chance to recognise the people who have shaped Iglu along the way and think about where we go next.
Sixteen Years of Change
Iglu today looks very different from the company it was in its early years. What began in Thailand has grown into an international network of 200+ professionals across 5 countries working across countries, projects, and clients. We’ve also added new services, built around what professionals and companies working internationally actually need.
The working world has changed even more. Remote work has moved from something relatively unusual to an established part of how many companies operate, making it easier for professionals to collaborate across borders and build careers without being tied to one location. At Iglu, flexibility remains an important part of that experience, giving people the freedom to choose where they work while staying connected to their colleagues.
“During my years at Iglu, I've seen the company grow and evolve, but the flexibility to choose where I work has remained one of the things I value most. Whether I'm meeting colleagues at the office, working from home, or spending the day at a nearby coffee shop, I have the freedom to work in a way that suits me. Relocating to Thailand was a good move, and being part of Iglu has made that experience even better.”
Toni Willberg, Head of Professional Services & CIO
The People Behind the 16 Years
Iglu has always been shaped by the people inside it. Over the years, professionals from different countries, industries, and backgrounds have joined the network, worked together, shared knowledge, built friendships, developed their careers, and in many cases made a new country feel like home.
Some have stayed for many years, building their careers and taking on new responsibilities along the way. Others have been part of Iglu for a shorter chapter. Each has contributed to the community and the company Iglu has become today.

"Since joining Iglu, so much has changed for the better for me, both professionally and personally. From first working on a iglu client project, to managing the Iglu sales team, Iglu has given me the opportunity to build a career while truly enjoying life in Thailand, with the freedom to work remotely and the support of great internal teams around me. It has also given me the opportunity to grow as a leader, take on new challenges, and develop in ways I probably wouldn’t have imagined when I first joined"
Jimmy Bernberg, Sales Manager
What Comes After 16 Years?
There is still plenty ahead for Iglu. Technology, AI, and the way companies build teams will keep changing, and so will the opportunities available to professionals working internationally. For Iglu, that means understanding what professionals and companies need and finding practical ways to support international work.
Our vision is to become the bridge between Southeast Asia and the West - facilitating cross-border work, business and movement of talent.
Santtu Säävälä, Deputy CEO

Nobody knows what remote work looks like in another 16 years but the fundamentals will still matter: meaningful work, room to grow, flexibility, and access to the right people and opportunities. We will keep building around those needs.
Sixteen years in, we are grateful to every professional, colleague, client, partner, and friend who has helped shape Iglu into what it is today. Here’s to 16 years of Iglu, and to everything still ahead.
